Gifted Talented Teacher and Advanced Placement Facilitator (Posted until filled)
Primary Function 

  • The primary function of the Woodlawn School District (WSD) Gifted and Talented (GT) Teacher and Advanced Place (AP) Facilitator is to facilitate the GT and AP program and work with principals, counselors, teachers, students, and parents.  

Qualifications
A. Holds a teaching certificate with GT Certification 
B. Preferred experience working with students and parents 
C. Preferred experience working with business, technical, and career planning 
D. Must have at least one year teaching experience
E. Must satisfy all Gifted and Talented Program Standards


Major Responsibilities and Key Duties (GT): 
A. Coordinate testing 
B. Fulfill all duties with being a GT Teacher/Facilitator as directed by the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) which includes the following, but not limited to: 

  • Pre Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) and Advanced Placement (AP) Testing 

  • Provide required test training to teachers 

  • Follow all Identification and test manual requirements 

  • Other tests as required 

C. Provide counselors and principals test score distribution and analysis 
D. Complete and file DESE report each October 
E. Obtain documentation K-12 for DESE monitoring 
F. Attend district Open Houses, board meetings, and parent engagements to present and represent GT, Pre-AP, and AP programs
G. Work with teachers and Pre-AP/AP teachers to order needed materials 
H. Organize Professional Development (PD) and maintain teacher training log; complete Assessment of Teaching Practice (ATP) as needed 


i. Work with administration and the SPED department to provide staff PD over differentiation 
ii. Required AP/Pre-AP training 
iii. Monthly GT meetings/trainings at regional cooperative and monthly meetings held within the district.


I. AP testing: 


i. Order all AP materials: Pre-administration materials, AP tests, Late test. 
ii. Train teachers/proctors. 
iii. Order needed materials for testing. Invoice after testing. 
iv. Pre-Register students for AP testing 


J. Pre-AP Testing: 


i. Organize Pre-AP math testing for WSD, notify parents of results, and communicate with counselors those who are placed. 
ii. Organize AP testing for WSD, notify parents of results, and communicate with counselors those who are placed. 


K. GT Testing: 


i. Communicate with all elementary the timeline/process. 
ii. Obtain permission and papers, oversee teachers testing, oversee and help with scoring of tests, send test results to parents/schools. 
iii. Notify students of GT placement decisions. 


L. Coordinate/Manage GT events: 


i. Quiz Bowl: Organize 4-12 Quiz Bowl Scrimmages (about 4 times a year) 
ii. Arkansas Governor’s Quiz Bowl Association (AGQBA) when tournament is held in Woodlawn either for Woodlawn High School (WHS) or Woodlawn Elementary School (WES)
iii.  Spelling Bee – Conduct an annual 4-8 Grade Woodlawn Spelling Bee sponsored by Scripps National and Arkansas Spelling Bee Association and alternating years host the Cleveland County Spelling Bee.


M. GT Enrichment: 


i. Oversee curriculum. 
ii. Collect documentation K-3. 


N. Other duties as assigned.
