Woodlawn Elementary engages children in fun

educational exploration of gardening and healthy eating!

Goals:
The Woodlawn Elementary Student Garden has been in existance since 2017 under the support of the Cleveland County Childhood Obesity Prevention Committee, organized by the County Health Officer, Dr. Mark Attwood, UA Extension, Arkansas Farm Bureau, Whole Kids Foundation, and American Heart Association.

Today everyone had a Spudtastic Sunny Day! We had Sweet Potato Harvest day in the Woodlawn Elementary School. All K-6 students participated in a schoolwide harvest activities. Overall we had a total of 250 lbs of potatoes!
Congratulations to the Fifth Grade for harvesting and Sixth Grade for planting the Sweet Potato garden with the most weight! We are excited that both classes have a reason to celebrate along with all of the classes for having a successful potato crop this year! Below are the total weights for each class.

A special thank you to the Cleveland County Master Gardeners Mr. Lynn and Mrs. Irene Wooly, Ms. Donna Johnston and to K- 12 Cullanary Senior Regional Director, Ms. Taylor Sherrill, who assisted the Woodlawn Elementary School students and staff today while we harvested the school sweet potatoes.
